Perfume Video Game

Fragrance aficionados, check out Passport to Perfume, a new video game from PlayFirst. You play Sophia, a master perfumer in the 1940s, and you create and sell virtual fragrances by mixing individual notes, picking pretty bottles, and managing your own boutique. On weekends, you get to travel the world looking for rare ingredients, glamorous bottles, and exotic fragrance recipes—or search out the recipe for a scent once worn by Marie Antoinette. What does a real-life perfumer think of the game? Rodrigo Flores-Roux, senior perfumer for the fragrance company Givaudan (which, incidentally, has actually done a scent based on one Marie Antoinette wore) enjoyed trying it out. His only disappointment: "What a shame you don't get to wear your fragrance creation in the end." He's got a point—but we still found the game totally addictive.
